Not Nice

When I'm not being nice to you, I'm really being nice to you.

Case in Point: frantically driving 15 miles over the speed limit through evening traffic to get Noah to the ER who has suffered a head concussion and is vomiting, crying from the pain, and showing signs of lethargy.

Mom (while driving): "Noah, say 'hello' to me."

Noah: no response from back seat

Mom: "NOAH! YOU SAY HELLO TO ME WHEN I SAY YOU SAY HELLO TO ME! ANSWER NOW! I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH PAIN YOU'RE IN! DO YOU HEAR ME? SAY 'HELLO' NOW!"

Noah: (weak voice) "Hello, Mom."

Mom (increasing speed): "That's better. Now you can throw up, baby. We'll be there in just a sec."

Point: Not being nice, really is being nice.

Noah's only lucid comment was made on the way home at midnight:
"Mallory is never gonna believe 'dis!" (btw-Mallory is the kindergarten nemesis)
*
Update: Noah had a mild concussion caused by horse play with his brother in the pool. He was one sick, pitiful puppy. He had a cat scan while at the ER and thanks be to God, no internal bleeding. He is back to his normal self after a very rough night. We have ALL learned some very important lessons from this, and hope that anyone reading this will always take head bumps very seriously. There are no 2nd chances for this type of injury.

  2. What I love is that you can blog about this scary situation with such a good sense of humor. In another setting I will have to tell you about my s-i-l on vacation this week. She did not react so well! And you can imagine how that went over with me!
